Meet the Presidents .... two like-minded individuals




Mr Rajesh Nigam after graduating from one of the most premium Engineering Institutes of the country- IIT-Kanpur, as a B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering. He joined hands with Mr Hemant Sapra in 1994, and has single-handedly handled the product manufacturing and development in KARAM. Mr. Rajesh Nigam’s technical expertise and his unique ability to apply his engineering skills, has spearheaded the success behind launch of a wide range of highly technical safety products in the Indian as well as the overseas market.



His preliminary years in work started with supplying safety equipment to customers, mostly in the Construction sector. With deep understanding of Customer needs, and a dedicated approach towards excellence, Mr Sapra teamed with Mr Rajesh Nigam in building KARAM into a one-stop shop for safety solutions, covering head to toe. His personal and Marketing skills have enabled built up trust and lasting bonds not only with Customers all across the globe, but also with his team members. Mr. Sapra is also the Vice-President of Safety Appliances Manufacturing Association in India.


From the year 1994, and going stronger by the day…..

The beginnings are humble and modest…

Progress of KARAM over the years …… performance and recognitions ……

1994

⇒ The Company was founded with a small scale Safety Net Manufacturing Unit and one office each at New Delhi & Lucknow, UP in India. Conceived as a professional organization specializing in Design, Development, Manufacturing and Marketing of Quality Fall Protection Devices.

1997

⇒ Set up the First Safety Belt Manufacturing Unit in Lucknow, UP, India. Bureau of Indian Standards, Govt. of India, Awarded the quality certification for Safety Belts as per IS : 3521 : 1989.

1998

⇒ Achieved approval from the Director General of Mines and Services, Government of India.

1999

⇒ Became the first Indian Company to achieve CE Certification on Fall Protection Equipment. All the equipment is now manufactured as per European Norms duly CE certified

2003

⇒ Awarded a Trophy by the Government of India for achieving Best Exports of Safety Equipment from the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

2004

⇒ Set up a Second Manufacturing Unit, a vertically-integrated plant for production of Fall Protection Equipment in Lucknow, UP, India.
⇒ Achieved the systems Certification of ISO 9001-2000 from UKAS (UK)

2005

⇒ Set up a Manufacturing Unit in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, India, to cater to the market needs of the country.

2006

⇒ Launched a new range of Personal Protective Equipment- the Safety Eyewear, CE certified and conforming to the EN norms
⇒ Established Regional Offices in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore

2007

⇒ Safety Footwear introduced by KARAM, incorporated with the unique Dual Density Polyurethane outsole.
⇒ Doubled up the Infrastructure in both the Manufacturing as well as the Marketing Set-ups in the country.
⇒ Full Body harnesses, now complying with the American and Australian Norms as well.
⇒ Progressing steadily to cover Personal Protective Equipment range from Head-to-Toe, KARAM launched Ear-Protection gear, conforming to the EN norms and CE certified.

2008

⇒ Progressing steadily to cover Personal Protective Equipment range from Head-to-Toe, KARAM launched Ear-Protection gear, conforming to the EN norms and CE certified.
⇒ Also launched KARAM range of Welding Shields
⇒ Reaching out to more customers by establishing more branch offices across the country

2009

⇒ Introduced the Premium range of Full Body Harnesses- the Magna Range- characterized by extreme comfort and ergonomic features.
⇒ Introduced an exhaustive range of Max Catch KARAM Retractable Fall Arrestor Blocks, in both Polymer as well as Aluminium Casing, ranging from 3.5m to 30 m in length.
⇒ Also introduced a wide range of Harnesses and Lanyards conforming to ANSI Z 359.1
⇒ Promoters awarded Vocational Excellence Award in the field of Trade and Industry, for “perseverance, commitment and dedication to high moral and ethical values” by Rotary Club of Lucknow (UP).

2010

⇒ Established a State-of-the-Art manufacturing Set-up in Sitarganj (Uttarakhand) having the latest technology in Shoe Molding (using specialized Desma machines), and with enhanced capacity for Fall Protection equipment manufacturing.
⇒ Consolidated the Vertical Integration process and Research & Design activities at the Unit in Lucknow through the use of specialized CNC machinery.
⇒ Increasing product range, conforming to ANSI and Canadian Standards

2011

⇒ Enhanced further capacity of Production in Lucknow by establishing a further Manufacturing facility.
⇒ Launched the New Gripp Series of Safety Shoes.
⇒ Launched the exhaustive range of Fixed Line Systems, for both Vertical and Horizontal Anchorage.
⇒ Set up and Consolidated base in France for reaching out to customers in Europe.

2012

⇒ Introduced the Special Purpose Harnesses and Fixed Anchorage line Systems in its range.
⇒ Further increased Dealer and Distributer network across the country.
⇒ Promoters awarded Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the UP Chapter of TIE for “visionary leadership and dedication to excellence”.
⇒ KARAM Marketing office set up in Dubai, to reach out to the Customers in the countries of the Middle East.

2013

⇒ Awarded the Best Exporter Award (U.P) -2013 from Uttar Pradesh Export Promotion Council
⇒ KARAM facilitated as New Star Export House
⇒ Set up complete automation in various operations and Robotic processes in Lucknow and Sitarganj units.
⇒ Expansion of the range of Safety Shoe.
⇒ Set up Warehouse in Vapi, Gujarat, for easy and quicker availability of goods for customers, moving a step towards forward integration.

2014

⇒ Established an additional Administrative State of the Art wing in Lucknow unit
⇒ Launched the New Revolta Harnesses, Telescopic Pole, Micron Block, Komfy Kruze (Ascent – Descent Rescue roll system), EVAC/ EVAC-R, (System for emergency evacuation & Rescue), Shelblast etc.
⇒ Retractable Fall Arrester Blocks Tested as per ANSI norms.
⇒ Further Expansion of FLS section.
⇒ Set up a new, accredited state-of-the-art Safety Training and Consultancy Facility in Delhi-NCR, equipped with advanced simulation sites for Height safety, roof safety, rope access and rescue.

2015

⇒ KARAM R&D team introduced more than 50 new products, covering ranges like Temporary Horizontal Life lines, Davit arm systems for Confined space entry, new Retractable Blocks, wide ranges of Winches, etc.
⇒ KARAM awarded “2-Star” Export House status.
⇒ Established a Warehouse in Texas, USA for quicker delivery of goods in North America.
⇒ Consolidated reach in the Middle East by establishing a stronger Dealer-Distributer network in the region.

2016

⇒ Expanded the Manufacturing set up to include the in-house production of steel wire ropes.
⇒ Introduced a new Model of Safety Helmet in the Indian market, with advanced features adding to comfort, safety and style of the user.
⇒ Established Sales offices in Australia, South Africa and Brazil (South America).
⇒ Brought about increase in automation in the manufacturing processes in both Lucknow and Sitarganj units.
